Free Agency Update
by David Murphy, Saturday, July 24, 2010

Here's the latest in signings, trades and rumors from around the league. With almost every marquee guy off the table, teams are now beginning to fill out their rosters with role players and complimentary talent.

The champs add some depth

-The Los Angeles Lakers now have two of the craziest small forwards in the league, signing Matt Barnes to a 2-year, $4 million deal.

-Theo Ratliff is also LA-bound, inking a single season, $1.35 million contract.

Miami continues to round out bench

-The Heat have brought back Carlos Arroyo for 1 year, $1 million.

-When you have a giant tattoo of the state of Florida on your back, you better not leave; Udonis Haslem will return to Miami for 5 years, $20 million.

-Juwan Howard is joining the team at 1 year, $1.35 million.

Other notables

-The Bulls and Warriors have completed a sign-and-trade: CJ Watson (2 years, $6.5 million) goes to Chicago for a future second-round pick and a trade exception.

-Derek Fisher will remain a Laker after signing a 3-year, $10.5 million deal. Jordan Farmar will not be joining him, however, as he is now a New Jersey Net (3 years, $12 million).

-The Spurs will retain the services of Richard Jefferson, terms of the contract are not known.

-Houston and forward Luis Scola have agreed to a 5-year, $47 million deal.

-The Mavericks are rumored to be close to signing former-Spur Ian Mahinmi.
